Episode Overview

With International Women’s Day approaching, the team at Nurse Recruitment Experts began having conversations about the needs of women in healthcare and how they can be supported.

Every woman has many roles in life: daughter, partner, mother, friend, employee, employer, co-worker, student…and many more. Each of these roles impact the others, and every individual has different needs depending on their specific roles. And for women in healthcare, their personal and work lives have been complicated by the pandemic, increased demands on the healthcare system, higher staff vacancies rates, and more.

Supporting women in healthcare improves job satisfaction, increases employee retention, and ultimately improves patient outcomes. Workplaces need to take a comprehensive view to supporting women, in order to meet their needs depending on the specific roles they play at work and in life.

In this podcast, Rachael Oldham and Ryan Engelhardt of DirectShifts will join us to discuss:

  • Some of the challenges faced by women working in healthcare.
  • Simple actions each of us can take to support our women co-workers and employees on a daily basis.
  • How employers can support women by implementing structural and policy changes at all levels.
